Winery & Facilities
With a tasting room set in a renovated 1886 farmhouse decorated with elegant woodwork, antique fixtures and furniture, a modern processing facility, and a beautiful banquet room, Whyte Horse Winery is the result of vision and a passion for fine wines.
The charming lakes resort community of Monticello, Indiana, is home to Whyte Horse Winery.
The farmhouse was part of a large land-holding on the south side of Monticello. At first I wanted to tear it down but, my wife put her gift of decorating and vision to work. She made the right decision. We have large porches that surround much of the house and the winery, furnished with rocking chairs and bistro sets for your enjoyment. We have added a music-filled garden for relaxing with friends. A vineyard at the back of the property complements a 12-foot gazebo, surrounded by a grassy area that will seat around 200 people facing the west, capturing awesome sunsets. In the spring, summer, and autumn months, this is a beautiful setting for weddings and other special events, or just for strolling through while enjoying a glass of wine.
The farmhouse tasting room has a handmade cherry bar. Our gift shop is decorated with antiques and offers wine accessories and gifts for sale. Specialized baskets can be made to order, and we also have an assortment of wine dip mixes, mulling spices, and Fair Oak cheeses. The upstairs has a small conference room for business meetings, restrooms and our offices.
The winery and processing facility is adjacent to our banquet facility which can seat up to 70 for a catered lunch, dinner, or other event. It has a 20-foot hand-made tasting bar with an antique mirrored back-bar that was built in 1890. The processing area is visible from the banquet room and is equipped with stainless steel tanks made in Italy and oak barrels made in France. Call for a taste and tour.
Don't forget about our beautiful grounds, vineyard and gazebo, which are available (weather permitting) for weddings, art fairs, music events, meetings, or any special celebrations. Call the winery or email firstname.lastname@example.org for rental details.
We offer wine tastings in our tasting bar during normal business hours (see home page). Tastings are on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations are required or taken. Our tastings begin at "no charge", but you may sample our entire wine list for a small fee. In addition, we occasionally have wines which incur a nominal tasting fee to sample.
Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to enjoy your wine tasting, as we must wrap up tastings approximately 15 minutes before closing. We serve our last glasses 30 minutes before closing.
We carry delicious cheeses from Fair Oaks Farms, as well as a variety of other gourmet and snack foods which you may enjoy with a glass or bottle of wine on our porches or patios after your tasting. Or take some home to enjoy later!
Minors are allowed on the winery premises, but by law, they cannot be at the tasting bar. Our staff will let you know which areas are minor-friendly. If your little ones cannot be several feet away from you, you may want to bring a friend or relative to stay with them while you enjoy your wine tasting.
Lastly, be sure to bring your government-issued photo ID. We ID everyone, regardless of age.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
