Our winemaking philosophy is one of
patience and taking care to ensure that
the fruit that God
created is what is most
evident in the wine. |
Whyte Horse Winery wines are a combination of love and patience.
The wines are intended to be wines you would be proud to serve
or be served, if they were the only bottle of wine you had in your
home. While we realize that some of the wines may not be a personal
favorite, we strive to produce an array of different tastes for
you to enjoy and to share. As a result, the wines will compliment
your food for a wonderful pairing experience.
Whyte Horse uses oak barrel fermentation as often possible. We
strive to achieve the proper balances of oak without being overpowering.
We like fruit-forward wines. For example, our Chardonnay is malolactic
fermented, finished sur-lee and fermented in 100% French oak barrels.
We filter our wines very lightly so as not to remove the aromatics
or the mouthfeel from the wine. We currently have thirteen wines.
This year we introduced our Riesling and Seyval Blanc, both white
wines and a holiday wine called Jingles. Soon we will be releasing
an old vine Zinfindel. Please watch our website because our quantities
do vary and some sell out rather quickly.
We have constructed our facility so that it can be easily accommodate
future growth. We have a vision for our winery that includes creating
a recognizable style of wine, creating an experience for our guests,
providing education on the characteristics of wines and how best
to enjoy the fruit of the vine. Many of our wines are medal winners
from both in and out of state competitions. Indiana has one of
the largest wine competitions in the country held in Indianapolis
every year. Wine makers from all over the world come to judge this
event. Larry was one of the judges this year. He also received
his certificate in winemaking from UC Davis, an intensive 185 credit
hour, two year vintner’s course based in California. We are
very proud of his accomplishments as he continues to strive for
excellence. We invite you to visit our winery often. We love hearing
your stories as well.
Look forward to seeing you soon…..
Salute!
