The vineyards of Whyte Horse Winery are located
on the rolling hills along the Big Creek in White County,
Indiana. Whyte Horse
grows many of the grapes that will be used
to produce its wines.

Because we are located in an area that has cold winters, we have
chosen to plant cold, hardy grapes suitable to the terroir of Indiana
from which we are excited to produce wines. To date, we have planted
Traminette and Vignoles grapes. We have four acres yet to plant
and are working with some vines now.
The vineyard soil is light and flows along lightly rolling hills.
The vineyard is located on a farm. The winery, however, is located
about five miles away and also has a small vineyard. There, the
ground is flat.
Our first vines — Traminette — were planted in Spring
2005. We expect to be able to make wines from them in 2008.
