With a tasting room set
in a renovated
1886 farmhouse decorated with elegant wood, antique fixtures
and furniture and
a modern processing and banquet facility,
Whyte Horse Winery is the result of vision and a passion for
fine wines. |
The charming lakes resort community of Monticello, Indiana, is
where you will find Whyte Horse Winery.
*The farmhouse we renovated was built in 1886 and was part of
a large land holding on the south side of Monticello. We were searching
for property and it became available. At first I wanted to tear
it down, but, my wife put her gift of decorating and vision to
work. She made the right decision. We have added large porches
around the house and the winery. We have added a garden for sitting.
We have planted a vineyard at the back of the property where we
are building a 12 ft in diameter gazebo that will have an area
available for seating of 200+ people completely surrounded by a
vineyard of vignoles vines.
*The winery has the renovated farmhouse that has tasting room/bar
that is handmade out of cherry. It also has 3 rooms that are decorated
with antiques and have wine accessories, baskets, pictures etc
for sale. The upstairs has a conference room with wireless internet
capabilities that is for rent and it will seat approximately 10
people. We built 10 wide decks on ½ for seating during the
summer and have a small private garden that is for seating.
The winery is newly constructed with a banquet facility that will
seat 75 for dinner (catered) It has a 20 ft hand made tasting bar
with a mirrored back bar that was built in 1890. The tanks are
Crevillar made in Italy (there are 10 total of which 2 were made
in Ont). We have constructed the winery so that buffet can be served
among the stainless steel tanks and the oak cooperage. (Dine with
the Wine).
We will have the gazebo/vineyard seating available in summers
for weddings, art fairs and music events.
